Four things a Hop Tien engineer checks

Base oil
Mineral, PAO, PAG, ester: many pairs do not mix and need a complete drain or a flush before filling.

Seals and materials
Some synthetic base oils swell or shrink NBR and EPDM seals and attack paint inside the machine.

OEM approvals and warranty
Machines under warranty usually require an oil on the OEM's approved list.

Actual operating conditions
Temperature, load, humidity and cleaning chemicals decide the viscosity grade and additives, not the name of the old oil.
