This page is for conveyor gear reducers, crushers, presses, mixers and industrial gearboxes in general (not automotive or motorcycle gearboxes): choosing the viscosity grade, the base oil and the FUCHS RENOLIN, LUBCON or CASSIDA grade; plus HLP hydraulic oils and circulating oils. Send the gearbox nameplate and the oil temperature; a Hop Tien engineer selects the oil within 24 working hours.
Industrial gear oil (CLP per DIN 51517-3) is chosen by the viscosity grade on the gearbox nameplate or in the manual, usually ISO VG 220 for conveyor reducers and mixers, VG 320 for crushers and heavily loaded presses, VG 150 for high-speed gearboxes, VG 460 for worm gearboxes and very heavy loads. Mineral oil (RENOLIN CLP, TURMOGEAROIL CLP EP) for most gearboxes: below 80 °C the oil achieves long drain intervals, and the RENOLIN CLP TDS allows an operating oil temperature up to 100 °C, with peaks of 120 °C at a shorter interval; PAO (RENOLIN UNISYN CLP) when the oil temperature is above that level or a longer interval is wanted; PAG (RENOLIN PG, TURMOSYNTHOIL PG) for worm gearboxes and efficiency, not miscible with mineral oil; food plants use CASSIDA FLUID GL, WG (NSF H1 registered). Keep the same viscosity grade when changing brand; changing the base oil requires draining and flushing.

| 220 | Conveyor reducers, mixers, agitators, large fans | RENOLIN CLP 220 | RENOLIN UNISYN CLP 220 (PAO) · RENOLIN PG 220 (PAG), on request | CASSIDA FLUID GL 220 · TURMOSYNTHOIL PG 220 (PAG) |
| 320 | Crushers, presses, rolling mills, heavily loaded low-speed gearboxes | RENOLIN CLP 320 · TURMOGEAROIL CLP 320 EP | RENOLIN UNISYN CLP 320 (PAO) · RENOLIN PG 320 (PAG), on request | CASSIDA FLUID GL 320 (on request) |
| 460 | Worm gearboxes, very heavy loads, high temperature | RENOLIN CLP 460 (on request) | RENOLIN UNISYN CLP 460 · RENOLIN PG 460, on request | CASSIDA FLUID GL 460 · CASSIDA FLUID WG 460 (worm gears) · TURMOSYNTHOIL PG 460 (PAG) |
RENOLIN CLP 150, 220 and 320 are on the current Flender approval list (T 7300) per the FUCHS TDS; check the latest revision before submitting documents. Gearboxes under warranty use an oil on the manufacturer's list. Grades marked "on request" are part of the FUCHS industrial range supplied by Hop Tien but do not yet have their own page.
| ISO VG | Hydraulic system | Mineral HLP | NSF H1 registered |

| 46 | Injection molding machines, lifting equipment, general industrial hydraulics | RENOLIN B 46 PLUS · RENOLIN ZAF B 46 (zinc-free), on request | CASSIDA FLUID HF 46 (on request) |
| 68 | Large presses, hot-running systems, outdoors in the sun | RENOLIN B 68 PLUS | CASSIDA FLUID HF 68 |
Circulating lubrication systems (one oil tank pumping to many plain bearings, rolling bearings and lightly loaded gearboxes, with return to the tank) use a refined mineral oil with antioxidant and anti-rust additives, good water separation and little or no extreme-pressure additive: FUCHS RENOLIN DTA 32, 46, 68 and RENOLIN MR 520 (multipurpose machine-tool oil), supplied on request. Many lightly loaded circulating systems run on an HLP hydraulic oil of the same viscosity grade; a Hop Tien engineer looks at the oil tank, the temperature and the water content before choosing.
Using another manufacturer's oil: base-oil table and what to check. Gearboxes in food plants: NSF H1 food-grade lubricants.
ISO VG 220 is the common grade for conveyor reducers, mixers, agitators and large fans running at 1,000–1,500 rpm input with the oil temperature in the normal range: RENOLIN CLP 220 (mineral), CASSIDA FLUID GL 220 (NSF H1 registered), TURMOSYNTHOIL PG 220 (PAG, NSF H1 registered). The final grade follows the gearbox nameplate.
When the gearbox nameplate states VG 320, or the gearbox is heavily loaded and slow-running with an oil temperature above normal per the manual (crushers, presses, rolling mills). Do not raise the viscosity on your own to be "safer": a thicker oil makes the gearbox run hotter and use more power.
Industrial gear oil (CLP, ISO VG) and automotive gear oil (GL-4, GL-5, SAE 80W-90) differ in additive package, viscosity grading and test methods; they are not interchangeable. This page covers industrial gearboxes only; Hop Tien does not sell automotive or motorcycle oils.
No. PAG is not miscible with mineral oil or PAO; changing to PAG, or from PAG to another base, requires a complete drain, flushing the gearbox with the new oil, and a check of the seals and the paint inside the housing. PAO is miscible with mineral oil, so that change is easier.
NSF H1 registered oils such as CASSIDA FLUID GL 220, 460 (synthetic), CASSIDA FLUID WG 460 for worm gearboxes, LUBCON TURMOSYNTHOIL PG 150, 220, 460 (PAG, NSF H1 registered). Copies of the NSF H1, Halal and Kosher registrations for each grade are sent within 24 working hours for audits.
A photo of the gearbox nameplate (make, model, specified viscosity grade), input power and speed, oil temperature when running, the oil in use and the change interval. The engineer replies within 24 working hours with the TDS of the proposed grade.
Temperature, viscosity and registration data are given per the manufacturer's TDS published on each product page; the actual conditions of the machine decide the final choice. Machine makes and trademarks named on this page belong to their respective manufacturers.
Each page has TDS data, registrations, pack sizes and a form to request documents.
