Same CPI PAO base, different additive package and purpose: CPI-4601 is an air compressor oil (also light and inert gases) for oil-flooded screw, vane and centrifugal machines; CPI-4600 (without the F suffix) is now used only for industrial refrigeration compressors on ammonia, propylene and high-temperature inert gas; air compressors use CPI-4601 (and CPI-4600-F in food plants, NSF H1 registered).
Per the TDS, PAO oils are compatible with mineral oil, so no transition oil is needed when the machine is clean; the old oil must still be drained fully and the oil filter and separator element replaced so that residue and aged oil are not carried into the new fill. Do not top up over PAG or POE oils (not miscible) – those cases require flushing. A Hop Tien engineer confirms the base oil in use before the change.
